Raising Food in San Francisco

They say in 100 years much of the real estate in San Francisco that is currently dedicated to automobiles will be dedicated to growing food, as part of the local/sustainable/natural food movement that has gained so much traction. I'm in my 2nd year of growing food on a small 8 x 10 plot of land out at Candlestick State Recreation Area. Last year we took out 60 lbs of tomatoes from three plants. We saved hundreds of dollars on fresh herbs over the course of the growing season. We had fresh vegetables coming in all summer and well into the fall. It is amazing how much food you can grow on such a small plot of land. Here's a photo of this year's garden, which we finished planting a few days a
